Testimonial — Working with SAAM: Wymondham Heritage Museum

The Wymondham Heritage Museum is a small independent museum entirely run by our team of volunteers. We are committed to ensure that we are fully accessible to all of our visitors but, with our limited resources, this can be a challenge. Also, the Museum Accreditation Scheme requires us to demonstrate that we have accessible facilities to meet the needs of all our users.

We were, therefore, very interested when Dr Carlos de Pablos-Ortega visited us to explain how the SAAM Project could provide subtitles for our set of films featuring the history of our town. The task was made more difficult because the original scripts had been lost which meant that his team had to rely on the existing audio commentary to generate the subtitles. They rose to this challenge and have provided us with a professionally produced set of subtitled films which will enhance our visitors experience.

We are extremely grateful for the work that Carlos and his team at SAAM have done. This will help our museum to be more inclusive for our deaf and hard of hearing visitors. We would have no hesitation in recommending SAAM to other museums or similar institutions that also have audiovisual content that would benefit from the addition of subtitles.
